A band with taiko at its heart
A band with taiko at its heart, Painted X-Ray* are taiko (Japanese drums, Alison Roe, Georgie White), guitar (Jer Reid), bass (Ali Begbie) and violin (Rafe Fitzpatrick): skins and strings basically.
Painted X-Ray are based in Glasgow and have toured around the UK, including the 1 in 12 Club’s 30th birthday party in Bradford, the Celtic Connections and European Championships festivals of 2018 in Glasgow, and in the beautiful Pianodrome in Edinburgh’s botanic gardens as part of the 2018 Fringe festival. Painted X-Ray were also one of 12 Glasgow music acts selected to take part in the British Council’s ‘Mix the City‘ project, launched in the UK in 2018.
Painted X-Ray have shared bills with The Ex, King Ayisoba, Kathryn Joseph, RM Hubbert, Sound of Yell, Barbara Morgenstern, Daikiri and FK Alexander (amongst others) and share a collective rehearsal space at On The Corner studio in Glasgow’s East End with several bands including The Gymnastic Band, Current Affairs, Joyce Delaney and Gift Horse.
