Some changes are underway for Painted X-Ray this year: Georgie has left and Yumi Célia is joining us on a trial basis. Alison and Yumi have been playing together intermittently for years after forming 2taiko together in Montreal in 2011, so Yumi is a natural addition to the band.
Logistics will be a challenge – Yumi lives in south-eastern France, Alison in north-western Scotland, and Rafe, Jer and Ali in Glasgow – but we’re going to give it a go and are hoping to do a gig before the end of the year. This will be our first performance since 2019 – as well as all the Covid disruption, Alison has been recovering from a head injury – and we’re looking forward to it.
We’re also moving into a new rehearsal studio. With free onsite parking, the new place will make our logistics a bit easier in terms of heaving our gear around, at least.
